Siva needs a home

Do you know someone that would like to have the Belgian Experience? Some Belgians have less energy like Princess Eva does, some are medium drive like Brice and some have even more drive than Brice does.

Siva is a pretty Terv mix girl at the Toledo Humane Society that is looking for a new home. Can you see the hint of the infamous Belgian smile? Brice says he'd snooter smooch her anyday!

This pretty girl is Siva. She is an 8 year old Belgian Shepherd Tervuren mix. Her previous owner lost her house and could no longer keep her. Siva is a sweet dog with pretty, long fur. She is friendly and laid back and would make a great companion.

Siva is up to date with shots, has been spayed, behavior tested, and has been micro chipped.

Attention Seniors! This animal is part of our Seniors for Seniors program. If you are 60 years of age or older, you can adopt any cat or dog who is 5 years of age or older on a Wednesday and we will waive their adoption fee. Stop in soon and see our Siva and maybe you can make her yours..............

Did you see that! People that are little bit older can adopt a dog for free on Wednesdays. That is a wonderful way to find a good home for dogs that are past the manic puppy energy stage.

You don't see a lot of dogs that are really of Belgian heritage in shelters. Since we are some of the less common (but not rare) breeds and the responsible breeders and owners work hard at keeping Belgians out of shelters, many of us are rehomed through the breeders or official breed rescue. If you're not in the Toledo area but still think that you may want to experience life with a Belgian, we've listed some of the resources. They may not have the right dog for you listed but will network with others in the Belgian community to see if they can match you to the right dog.

Of course we ask that you to do your research and make sure that this is the breed for you. Most Belgians are not the nap on the couch all day and take a casual walk a few times a week type of dog. Though we post some of hikes and trips to the dog park, we don't post them all. If Brice does not get at least 1 hour of hard exercise a day, he is bouncing off the walls.

Belgians are smart, athletic, easily trained, need a job dogs but are very devoted to their people. We're often called Velcro dogs because we think our people need help with everything - just ask our parents, they haven't taken a shower or even moved from one room to another without Brice supervising since he got here.

We're multi-talented dogs. Belgians excel in herding, agility, obedience, rally, tracking, search & rescue, law enforcement and are beautiful and very affectionate. We can do anything!

Woof ya later,
Princess Eva & Brice the Handsome

P.S. The city that we live in restricts us to having only two dogs but every time that Momma gets an e-mail about another Belgian needing a home (especially if it is a Terv) she thinks about breaking that rule. She'd love to have a bigger pack.

P.S.S. There is a 9 month old Terv in rescue that is really catching her eye! And just heard of a 4 month old Malinios coming into rescue. Yet Buddy (a 2 yr old Belgian Sheepdog) is really tugging at her heart.

Too bad about the city rules because we were going to make a nice suggestion:) The town next to us has that same rule and some of the sly residents get three dogs that look almost identical and only register two - now that's devious.

Woos, the OP Pack

My humans (especially the one who likes shoes) would have a dozen if I weren't such a spaz.

You guys sure are purdy. You should tell your human to move where there aren't stupid rules.

I've always wanted to work with a Malinios to see if I have what it takes to get one. They are such beautiful dogs with such incredible drive. Unfortunately don't know anyone who has one. Maybe someday.

Believe it or not, our humans used to live in one of those type cities. Guess not anymore, huh?

I doubt that I am ready for the Belgian Experience, but I do hope this blog finds its way to someone who is. Imagine having to give up a dog who is 8 years old, painful for the owner, and moreso for the dog.

Kisses,
Stella and Mom

Oh I do hope they find a home soon and get out of the shelter. and how cool seniors get to adopt for free!! what a great idea. And the rule about only 2? awe just forget it, especially if you can help a pup in need. =)

I'll try to help spread the word, this little beauty needs a home!

Those sort of rules are just so annoying - especially when there are so many animals in rescue shelters just waiting for a loving home.

Older dogs are cool too - they are much more chilled and relaxed, although still waiting for Pippa to stop chasing cats.

she is beautiful, although i find stories of "can no longer keep her" very hard to swallow. there is one here at the ns shelter too and i couldn't believe it --as they are not a common breed

Hi Princess,

Thanks for stopping over.

I like the idea of the Seniors-for-Seniors program:) And I should say that Siva looks quite matured and..."learned". I hope she finds a good home.
