Bambi!!!!!

Dad hasn't been working on Fridays lately, so we had a big day planned.

First on our schedule was a walk around Bricey Ocean South.
For some reason, humans want to call it Lake Harriet.

I know there must be fish in here. We could catch our own snacks!

No Dad, we're not doing anything bad, just looking!

Hey!!! Is that the Thundering Herd???

One person and eleven dogs. But no huskies so it can't be The Herd
(What would be the math equivalent? One Husky = how many regular dogs?)
Momma says that Brice is a handful and is equal to 4 or 5 dogs all by himself.

Next on our list was the Edina Art Fair. But we got a later start today than we planned and decided it would be too crowded and didn't want anyone to step on our feety feet so we went back to the Fort Snelling State Park.

This time we read the sign correctly and found the right path.

Part of the historic site
(sorry, since we're dogs, we can't read the historic markers and be more specific)

The Chapel

Princess Eva was scared of the people in the funny hats and wouldn't go near them.
But Brice was ready to pose.

Another part of the fort

Then it was back to the trails
We found a Trippy-Trapp bridge

We saw Mr. Snake on the bridge

Momma made Brice pose on the stump

But here is the highlight of our day. We were walking around Pike Island and a deer jump over the path and disappeared into the woods to our right. It was kind of strange since it was mid-afternoon. But glancing to our left, we found the reason why the deer was trying to draw our attention the other way.

Tucked into the woods was Bambi!

Momma continued with Princess Eva and Brice down the trail while Dad stayed on the trail and zoomed in on the baby for a quick picture before he caught up to us. They said that it was very important that we didn't stress either the baby or the momma.

By then we were getting tired so we decided to go home to nap AFTER a quick stop at Sonic for a late lunch.

Woof ya later!

What a wonderful day with the pawrents!!! so many wonderful places you get to go too. You should have seen the snake in our yard today. Mom was outside with the four little bipeds and the littlest one kept saying, Grandma, what's this, what's this? Well, Mom said it was a black black black snake and it was about six feet long. She grabbed all the little ones and brought them inside. By the time she went back out with her camera, it was gone.

Happy weekend, the OP Pack

You had a wonderful day, didn't you? Are you going to do the Art Show tomorrow?

Think of how brave the Mother Deer is to run away from her baby hoping you will just look at her and not see the little one. Amazing!

Kisses,
Stella

Sounds like you had fun. What kind of snake was that you saw? I like the picture of Brice with the dressed up people and standing on the stump. Very handsome dog.

What an awesome day. Sorry we were not up there, so it was not us you saw. But 11 dogs is pretty good. And the snake sighting was really cool.

But best of all was Bambi. finding Bambi is really hard, so you did a great job of finding and taking the picture.

Sonic!!??!! Zim wants to know if you got a Frozen Mocha Latte? Dave's fav there is the Watermelon Slushie. Me, i like French fries and burgers!
Look at how CUTE Bambi is!!! What a great shot! And ooh, a Trippy Trap Bridge! That one looks pretty well built, though. I"ll bet you were both really brave going over it!
Did that snake give your parents anything? Because Mom was out walking me and Davy about an hour ago and we saw a REEEEEEEEally big one and it gave Mom something called the Heebie Jeebies and we turned around and went home. It must be hard to carry Heebie Jeebies because I didn't think we had reached our half-way point. Hrumph!
Love,
Ammy
PS: Those are some REALLy nice pictures of you two!!!

You left out the most important part of the story. What did you get at Sonic?

Otherwise, that looked like a really fun adventure. How did you like your backpack?
