Sheep

I wonder if we can ask Momma and Dad to move out to the "country" so that we could expand our pack. We can only have two where we live and Eva does not always respect my senior status.

Actually, Momma talks about it so that we can have sheep for Eva to herd. She mumbles something about providing the opportunity for Eva to exercise her natural instincts. Maybe she'd stop trying to herd me.

DWB - If we have to explain, you wouldn't understand

Warning: Momma hijacked the blog for this post.

As I sat up Saturday night to show my support of Meeshka's people and Steve, Kat and Wilbur's people during the Blogathon, I started to think. Admittedly, that can be dangerous but I was thinking of the commitment that they were making to improve the lives of other dogs. This lead me to thinking all of the dogs here at DWB of which many are rescues.

Yes, we have told people that Tasha and Eva have a blog. Some people get it and some look at us as if we're cracked (or on crack).

Dad was the one who brought DWB into our lives. One day he was searching the Net and the AO4 popped up. This led to reading some of the other blogs. Soon he decided the "girls" needed their own blog. Which brought me into the DWB world (had to keep up with the "girls"). For both of us, we started reading some of the blogs here at DWB as a way to get a chuckle out of the day. But it's grown to be much more than that. We laugh, we cry or just stop by to say "Hey". We don't post or comment as often as we would like but it is a wonderful community that we are proud to be part of.

But it is not all fun and games. Like others, I have sat and cried over dogs that have passed to the bridge that I have never met but I know the pain that their people are are feeling because we have been there. Each time, I hear of another going to the bridge, I think of Tia who was diagnosed with advanced cancer when she was only 5. It's been almost 3 1/2 years since we eased her journey to the bridge - her puppy picture is on the fridge and we still talk about her. Our friends, family and neighbors extended their condolences, but most of them did not understand. Here at DWB, you will find others who understand the extent of the emotions. It's amazing to see the love and support from this community to the grieving family.

On a lighter note, we do have friends (with and without dogs) that stop by the blog to check up on the girls because they know that they are important to us. And it might give them chuckle or two. Or let them know what is going on in our lives. (we got a call from one just five minutes after posting this).

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown

To our Tasha and Eva, you are our girls and we love you. Yes, you can have a treat. (Eva, you owe Momma a pair of shoes)

That being said, I promise not to hijack their blog again. I'm turning it back over to the girls.

DWB - If we have to explain, you wouldn't understand.

Time for bed

Momma is squirrely and needs to sleep but first....

We'd like to thank Meeshka, Steve, Kat, Wilber, Sitka and Holly for a very entertaining 24 hours.

Meeshka was blogging for Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue. They are very dedicated to helping the fluffy puppies.

Steve, Kat and Wilbur were blogging for Adopt a Husky of Dallas. They are also working hard for the fluffies.

There is still time to pledge some money to help out the fluffies. Just stop by one of their blogs.

Sleepy....night....Zzzzz

It's 4:30 am

and we are still up. Along with Holly and Sitka & Tia, we've been following along as Meeshka blogs for Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue and Steve, Kat and Wilbur blog for Adopt a Husky of Dallas. We learned so much about them and their dedication to helping others.

I'm starting to wake up now. The old "Timmie and Lassie" show is on Discovery Kids.

What's wrong Lassie, is Timmie in the well?

Evil Eva

Eva:
Well, this is what happened. Momma came home from the office on Thursday and left her shoes on the floor in the dining room.

She does this all the time but usually remembers to pick them up when she goes to bed. Maybe she forgot because I haven't chewed a shoe in months.

But she forgot and I was bored.......... so I chewed on Momma's favorite shoes. They weren't expensive 'cuz she spends all of their money on us but now she has to take the time to try to find another pair like them. Momma loved these shoes so I'm a bad, bad girl.

She didn't yell at me but I got the heavy sigh and "I'm very disappointed in you" look.

Tasha:
I don't want anydog to have the wrong impression. I am proud to have a mixed heritage. Momms is thinking about the DNA test just for fun. Don't tell Eva this but Momma and Dad love me the most. Grandma even has a picture of me on the wall because she realized there won't be any biped grandkids coming from this house.

Good Old fashioned Dog Next Door

Eva may be some fancy shmancy breed but I am a good old fashioned random "ships passing in the night" mix of collie, husky and golden retriever. At least that's Momma and Dad think I am. Momma's thinking about submitting my DNA for breed testing but is waiting until this fall when they will have more breeds available.

Now to my darling Pippa - You must be patient. Even though it was her fault, Momma is still upset about what Evil Eva did. Momma doesn't know how to get the picture from the little box to the bigger box. Check back in the morning, it will probably be posted later tonight.

Belly rubs,
Tasha

Duh!

1. One of Momma's friends thought it was a human in the picture by the link to our profile. Like a human has beautiful ears like that?

2. I am so tired of the "Is our dog a Collie mix?" or "GSD mix?' or even "What kind of mix is she?"
I am a Belgian Tervuren and proud of it. I don't care if 99.99% of the population doesn't know my breed exists.

Eva (the one with the beautiful ears)

Blogathon

I was a bad, bad girl.....but we'll post about that later.

Momma's leaving the puter up and running all day for us so that we can keep up with our pup pals who are blogging for the blogathon. So we may make several posts today too.

Don't forget to stop by and see them and pledge some of your people's money for their worthy causes.

Meeska is blogging for Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue. They very dedicated to helping the fluffy puppies.

Steve, Kat and Wilbur are blogging for Adopt a Husky of Dallas. They are also working hard for the fluffies.

Few Words Friday: Bob is Back!

I want a ride in the convertible with the top down, NOW!
Hi Pups & Girl Girl, Tasha here. YES! Finally mom's car is back from the car hospital. If you remember, mom had an accident with her Mustang convertible, who she named Bob. You can read all about it here if you missed that post. So I am DEMANDING that we go for a ride in the back with the top down. We have our Doggles and our special doggy safety belts, so we are ready and eager to be going!
I am feeling much better after my nasty pooping episodes. I was SO embarrassed about pooping in the house. I haven't done that since I was a very young pup about 60 dog years ago. My humans were very understanding and didn't scold me at all. They know that if I do something like make a mess in the house that something is definitely not right. Thank you to everypup that gave me get-well-soon wishes! That means a lot to me.
I guess this Few Words Friday turned into A-Lot-More-Than-a-Few-Words-Friday! I better go and wake up the humans and start pestering them about taking Eva and I for a ride in the Mustang! Belly Rubs, Tasha.

Our Pack's Favorite Books

Hi Pups and Girl Girl, Eva here again today. We were tagged by Sitka and Tia to tell you about our 5 favorite books. Here I am one night. I couldn't sleep.

1. Insomnia by Steven King. This book kept me entertained for only one night. I took it off dad's night stand cuz he wasn't doing anything with it. At least I was gentle on this one.

Notice the delicate tooth marks. The humans didn't even have to throw this one away.

2. Dad gets one here. He likes practically everything by Steven King. Here's his collection with a few other of his favorites.. Some read by Tasha or I and some not. Notice the two without spines! I wonder how that ever could have happened? He said he really enjoyed the Gunslinger series.
3. Any book about my breed, the Belgian Sheep Dog! The book on the left has a picture of a the Groenendael variety and the pup on the right is my variety, the Tervuren. You can click here if you want to see the other two varieties. We used to have another book on Belgians, but I thought it was very tasty!!

4. Tasha's choice is anything by John Sanford. When dad is reading one of the his books in the "Prey" series, he reads late at night. Tasha lays on the bed with him and she gets lots of petting! Dad says these books are about a detective in the Minneapolis police department and references many places around the Twin Cities, which he says makes it cool since he knows the area pretty well. Whatever, as long as I have my back yard, dog park and walking routes, who cares about the rest of the world?
5. Mom's Favorite Book. THE CHECK BOOK!! We like this book a lot, too! It gets us kibble, treats, toys, and pays for nasty trip to the VET (OK, one strike against the check book),, here's a video of the three different kinds of treats that mom bought with the CHECK BOOK!

Did you notice that I got both of the treats from the offering on the left? Pretty sneaky, don't you think? Belly Rubs, Eva.

Delicate Issue

Sorry we haven't been around much lately. Momma has had to travel for work again (she keeps traveling to a place that has a Three Dog Bakery but forgets to bring us home treats) and Dad has been working hard. But more importantly, Tasha has been under the weather.

How can I say this delicately................she has been having a poo issue. She is so embarrassed and had to let the vet steal some of her blood. Thank Dog, everything came back normal but she has to take some pills and be on a bland diet for a while.

Even on a bland diet, Momma searches out the best for us- no wheat, no corn, no soy etc. I still get Nature's Variety but Tasha is on Duck and Potato. I got to try it and it's pretty tasty. Momma gets our kibble at a local place where they carry lots of good quality foods. As soon as Tasha can test them, we'll post about some new treats she picked up today.

We're in the middle of a new heat wave, so we'll post an old picture that will cool everyone off.

Belly Rubs,
Eva

p.s. We have not forgotten that we were tagged for our 5 favorite books. We'll try to respond later this week, I need to taste a few more for that.

What happened to your paws, funny-looking puppy?
Dad found this strange pup when he went to Shanghai, China 3 years ago. He said the puppy didn't bark and didn't want to play. We think he must be a guard dog! Belly Rubs, Tasha & Eva.

Time Capsule Items.

Hey puppers, Tasha here. We were tagged by Pippa to list 5 things that we would put in a time capsule to be opened in 25 years to show what dogs need in the future. So here is what we would chose to place in it.
1. Pups Must Have Treats. Here we are waiting for dad to say "OK" so we can eat our treats. We pups have to have our treats. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as its healthy and its not over done, there's nothing that motivates pups more than a good treat!

2. Pups Must Have Toys. Here are pictures of our favorite toys. First is Eva's bald tennis ball. Your ball can have fur or it can be bald, but we must have something to chase.

Here is my favorite ball. It is a junior size basketball. To me, variety is always good. Eva has her one and only ball, but I need balls, sticks, and tug-of war ropes.

3. Pups Must Have Extra-Special Treats. OK, we already mentioned treats, but for when we have been especially good, we need extra special treats. Our favorite is a frozen Kong filled with peanut butter. Life is good when we get one of these!
4. Pups Need A Way to Stay Cool. We agree with Sitka on this one. We pups need to have a pool. Not only do we get to cool off, but when we have to come in, we get a good rub down with a towel. That means more attention from the humans in our lives which is always great! Here I am giving a good shake!
5. Pups Need Dog Parks. We realize you can't put a whole dog park in a time capsule, but maybe plans for a dog park would work. A good fence and double doors on the entry point is really all you need. There is nothing better than being able to run around off-leash and socialize with other dogs. After all, we are pack animals!
We are supposed to tag 5 other pups, but since we are pretty late getting around to this (no thanks to dad) we'll just say that if there are any of our dog friends that want to list their time capsule items, that would be great! Belly Rubs, Tasha.

Slogans!

Slogans. Get your slogans here !

Tasha's quote-"I'm Only Here For The Tasha". She does think the world revolves around her! And movie quote "May the Tasha be with you." (Daddy will love this one)

Eva's quote
"Naughty, but Eva". I'm innocent. I did not take the dirty socks out of the hamper. OK maybe I did. But if I look cute and give Mom kisses, she'll forget. And movie quote"I find your lack of Eva disturbing." Duh! Everyone needs an Eva.

Eva

Momma is typing. So no pictures.

We're Rockin' Now!

Hi puppers and Girl Girl, Tasha here. Its been another really busy work for the dad. He's coming home tired and grumpy every night from work. We try to tell him if it makes him so tired and cranky, then he should just stop going and spend all his time with us! He says that if he does that, that would be the end of kibble and treats for us. So I guess that we'll let him keep going. But on to much more interesting things.
Look what our pal Holly nominated us for! We are Rockin' Girl Bloggers!! How totally cool is that?!?! Thanks ever so much, Holly! We feel very honored to get this awesome badge. There's lots of other great Rockin' Girl Bloggers out there on the net, so just to be mentioned with them is WAY COOL!!
We are supposed to nominate 7 other Rockin' Girl Bloggers, but we think most of our pup pals have already gotten it. If you haven't, just right click on the badge and Save Picture as..., save it on your computer and up load it just like a normal picture. We think that Girl Girl should DEFIANTLY have this one! Thank you very much once again for thinking of us, Holly!
We have gotten a LOT of new stuff lately. First it was a package in the mail! A bunch of fun stuff and one EEEEVIIIILLL thing. Check it out! There's an Evil Cuz, (that's not the EEEEVIIILLL thing), a scrunchy bone, a couple of Nylabones, a new poo bag dispenser, and yes, I'm sure you see it.

It's an EEEVIIILLL Furminator! NOOOOOOO!!!

The toys are great, the poo bag dispenser is a necessity, and the furminator is, well, NOT GREAT! Pleasure and pain all in one small box. Eva loves the scrunchy bone and the Nylabones and I think Evil Cuz is great! He bounces funny sometimes and I love to chase after him. We really needed new Nylabones, cuz the old ones were getting pretty stubby and the humans were tired of pulling all the fur off them. They also said something about those old bones really hurt if they got stepped on with bare feet. Humans are SUCH tenderfoots!

Look what our neighbor Bob gave us! Its a Doggy Driver! Your human can use it to throw a tennis ball. Bob is SUCH a great neighbor to think of us! Here's me checking it out.

Can we play now, dad?!?!

We haven't got a chance to try it out yet because our yard isn't big enough and SOME humans haven't taken us to the dog park in what seems like a hundred years! It looks like fun, though, and when we do try it, we'll try to remind dad to bring the camera with and make a video. Hope all you pups are doing well. We'll try to get around and check everypups blog here soon! Belly Rubs, Tasha.

Happy 4th of July!

Hi, pups and Girl Girl, Tasha here. Its always a happy day when the humans are home with us on a week day! Being the 4th of July, that means there's been lots of fireworks going off so Eva has been spooked some lately. She's doing lots better than she did last year. She usually runs to her kennel and hides and shakes really hard, but last night she got some Rescue Remedy and here tight shirt put on and she stayed out with the rest of the pack! And she only shivered a little bit. Quite an improvement for the easily frightened Little One!

So we finally have a chance to respond to the tag we got from Ivy to tell you a little bit about our humans. First off here's somethings about momma.

She grew up in southern Minnesota, she works for a big, evil, banking conglomerate who she has to travel a lot for. We don't like it very much when she's gone and show how much we missed her when she finally comes home. She loves us very much and does lots of stuff to make us happy, healthy pups.

Dad grew up on a farm in southwest Minnesota and went to a VERY small high school. He only had 32 other people in his graduating class and he played 9-man football (1975 State 9-man Champions!), basketball, and ran track. He worked for Minneapolis-based rock bands for 12 years. He and momma met during this time. He went to electronics school and has worked for the company he is now with for the last 14 years.

Hope all you pups have a great 4th of July with your pack and don't get too scared by all the fireworks. We'll tag Sparky, Suzy and Kate, and Satchel.

I know its probably hot where most of you pups are today, so I will leave you with a picture of me from last March doing one of the things I love to do most!

Hope this picture helps you to feel a little cooler! Belly Rubs, Tasha.
