It's so unfair.....

We spent some time out in our front yard yesterday. Eva is off-leash because she can be "trusted" but I'm on a 30ft lead because I get "distracted" and don't always listen.

For our safety, we are trained to not go through the front door without them saying that it is OK.
We had to wait while Momma was on the phone with Dad.

We did a little training and I had to work on my long sit/stay. We had videos but Momma seems to "forget" which direction way is up so we're not going to post them.

and my long down/stay while she walks around the driveway and yard for a few minutes

We cut our training short because Dad came home and said it was time for belly rubs. I find this angle is best for getting a belly rub without laying down.

Eva has found she can't be ignored if she goes between Dad's legs.

This is why all things that Brice may want to chew on are put away in places that are at least 6 ft off the ground.

More attention from Dad

and even more attention

But it is so unfair that I have to have a training lead and actually have to train. Meanwhile the Princess gets to be off-leash and gets treats and attention for just being cute!

I think I'll find something to chew on,
Brice

P.S. from Momma- Considering our immediate environment and Eva's personality, we have determined that Eva can be trusted off-leash in this exact situation.

Brice, did you find something good to chew up? Was it fun? Did you totally destroy it?
I love the picture of you and Eva waiting in the doorway!

Girls are always more trustworthy, don't you think?

Boys are kind of impetuous, sometimes, thats what I think anyway.

Happy Holidays to the
BTs, Mom and Dad.

Brice, I totally understand your frustration. The Spokeswoman lets that thick-skulled, delusional Newfie run off leash all the time on our walks in woods, but not the Border Collie and I. She used to let the Border Collie off lead, too, because she was such a little goody-two-shoes that she always came flying back to the Spokeswoman on the very first call...but, I taught the Border Collie how to be a free spirit--now we are both demoted to "never off lead" status. Ahhh...misery LOVES company! Now if I can just rehabilitate that Newfoundland, everything will be as it should be! (Cause if I can't be "off lead", no one else should either!!!)

I don't have a lead either but I am not allowed out the front door. I don't know why.

Hi, Brice!
If you are a good boy you will be off-leash soon!
Belly rubs sound much better than training! Well, that is my "wild girl" opinion!

I totally get the thing about treats being 6 feet off the ground. I seem to be able to "paws up on counter, table...whatever..." to reach goodies! Your training seems to be going great though - I'm taking a break for another week from obedience (thank dog!). Hoppy Easter!
Hugs xo,
Sammie

Don't worry about the training lead - it looks as if you won't need it much longer. Such good dogs! Happy Easter you two!

Don't feel too bad Brice, we never get to be off leash. Something about getting distracted. It looks like you're doing a great job though.
