Terv sighting

Belgian Tervuren are an uncommon breed. So you rarely see them in movies, advertisements, videos etc. But way back many moons ago, there was this little video. There are actually two Tervs in this video.

Mom took some new pictures and videos of us yesterday but needs to figure out why she can't get the videos to play.

Maybe tomorrow.

We're back

So here's the deal.

First, our research is done and we think Brice is only part alien. Here are the facts that we have found in the past few weeks.

  • His slanty eyes
  • He doesn't like peanut butter or bananas
  • If he sees Momma get our brush out, he bugs her until she brushes him
  • He actually obeys commands 99% of the time
  • He likes to redecorate the house (he moves rugs from room to room)
  • He can string toilet paper from Momma and Dad's bathroom, through their room, across the hall, into our room onto the guest bed without tearing it. (maybe he has hidden thumbs)
  • He eats twice as much food as I do but doesn't get fat
The other reason, we took a break is due to the economy. Momma was in the mortgage business and got downsized. Even with all of her extra free time, she found that she was having motivation issues. So she banned us from the computer in order to get things done. She's been painting and and playing lots of games with us. We think the real reason that she is home 24/7 is because we've been asking her for months to devote all of her time to us. We like to snuggle with her in the morning and being able to go outside whenever we want and learning new games.

We'll post pictures soon. Most of them are on the old laptop that bit the dust this weekend so Momma has to wait for a part before she can pry them off of the hard drive. I know what you're thinking but Nope, Brice had nothing to do with the need to get a new laptop.

ET phone home!

Have you ever noticed that someone in our pack has a slightly different look to him.

Let me show you.

Here is how he normally looks.
Take a closer look at his eyes. See how they tilt.

Do they look like another image that you may have seen?
We're going to go explore this mystery and will be back in a few weeks. We'll try to sneak away to read and comment.

A busy week

Life has been busy around here lately.

Dad made a really big opening in our wall. Momma had to block off the opening because somepup almost got hit with a hammer because he was supervising too closely. Even when they were hammering, he didn't have the sense to go hang out in his kennel.

Momma painted the office but we weren't allowed to supervise since I like to help a little too much and then end up with paint from my ears to my tail.

What you doing Dad?

Our neighbors Jeff and Scott were helping.

We received a box of stuffies from our friend Summi.

By the end of the day, two were de-squeaked and de-stuffed

The other day, our friend Zimmie was talking our hiding spots. This is my favorite because some other pup can't fit back here.

Brice's classes are going fairly well. He is the rock star of the class as far as the exercises but he has the occasionaly barking fit. The instructor actually asked if he was possibly scared of other dogs. They had to pick Momma up off the floor after she fell because she was laughing so hard.

Our friends Dakota, Phantom and Thunder gave us this bewootiful award. We'll be back tomorrow to pass this award on to some of our friends. Momma has to look to see who has not received it yet.

Momma says we can only have the laptop for another hour so we're going to sign off and go visit other blogs. Then she's going to get paint for the living room. I'm sure sure she won't let us supervise that either.

See ya later.

P.S. from Momma - we knew that there can be challenges in bringing a young adult dog into an existing pack but lately it's like they turned into human 3 year olds. They play nicely and then it's like they're screaming "Mom, he touched me" and "She touched me first". It's been very time consuming to have to supervise them constantly.

They call me Mr. Muffin

In support of our Queen Meeshka and her blogging marathon to raise funds for Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue, today has been declared Huzzy & Studmuffin Day.

Princess Eva does not think that participating in this activity is becoming of a princess and as a result, refuses to participate. (She doesn't want the pictures to come back and haunt her later and knock her tiara off)

However, Brice is game for anything. Momma has destroyed all evidence of non-family friendly photography that resulted in his cover "article" in Playdog but has agreed to let Brice pose "nekkid". Due to his recent surgery, he is having a major coat blow.

Soon Momma recognized that the photographer was only taking tasteful photos and I was able to talk her into letting me remove my collar.

Please stop by to check out Meeshka's 100 posts in 5 days and, if possible, donate to a great rescue.

Once again, our humans have fallen way behind in blogs. We'll try to get them back to the computer this weekend. They've been distracted with things including installing the new patio door that Brice is posing in front of. We have pictures of him "helping" and will post them later and updates on Brice's obedience classes, and the box that came in the mail and Brice's latest stuffie/household item count and the list goes on and on.

'Til then,

The Princess and the Gimpy boy

I had to have a serious talk with someone about the lack of my presence lately. I have been reassured that as soon as someone grows up and stops causing issues, the coverage will be more balanced.

And I was reminded that only I get to be on the sofa for special snuggle time with Dad.

Back to HIM for a minute since somepup is concerned about him. Until the bandages come off, Brice has to wear a very stylish plastic bag covering the Viking purple bandage on his foot whenever he goes outside.

Momma apologizes for his lack of obedience in the first video. He knows he is not suppose to be trampling on the hostas but since Momma forgets to water them, they're going to die anyway.

And to show that he can still move a a speed faster than a walk.

Time for my early afternoon nap.

Princess Eva

P.S. Our friend Oorvi is up for DWB blog of the month. You may have noticed that some of us have added breed specific clocks on our blogs. Among their other talents, Oorvi and her Mercury created those clocks. If you haven't voted yet at the Bone Zone, please consider Oorvi.

8 weeks = 6 vet visits

Apparently my goal is to make Momma poor.

I have been to the vet 6 times in 8 weeks.

Visit 1 - bloodwork for neuter(was suppose to be nueter but one of my protein levels was low and they suggested waiting and doing a retest)
Visit 2 - Neuter
Visit 3 - Put staples in because I've ripped out all of stitches
Visit 4 - Take staples out
Visit 5 - Rabies shot (not done on any prior visit due to not noticing that the prior vet had only used a 1 year rabies vaccine instead of the 3 year)
Visit 6 - Fixing the tears in two of my toe pads

Let me explain visit # 6.

Thursday night we were on our way to obedience class and since we were going to be early we stopped at a pet supply store to restock my toy box.

I was on Momma's right side and as she opened the door I darted to the left side and got my paw stuck between the door and the cement sidewalk. I pulled it back and didn't yelp or anything so Momma thought I was OK. A few minutes later, when Momma showed me a new toy she noticed that I was holding up my paw and she looked back saw a path of bloody foot prints. She quickly stopped the bleeding but instead of going to class, we went home and cleaned and wrapped my paw. She found two tears in my pads.

I was putting my full weight on it but I kept pulling off the bandages and picking at the paw so I started limping last night. So it's off to the vet this morning to determine how to fix me.

I forgot to share that when I was at the vet last week for the shot, there were two other Belgians there. A Groenendael and a grey Terv. But we didn't have time to stop and sniff. Even though out new vet is 30 minutes away (it's an hour during rush hour), we go there because they have other Belgian clients). Maybe there will be other Belgians there today.

I'll update later but it's time to go now.

Brice

P.S. Momma is feeling really guilty so I have been getting extra love and treats.

UPDATE: No bone damage. No infection. They trimmed off the loose flaps of my pads. One was already healing and the other was a little more damaged so they wrapped my paw again and gave my Momma some pills for me. I have to back on Monday(visit # 7) for a re-check.
